Dear SOITC Member,

The purpose of this email is to notify you of two recent changes to the SOITC Board Of Directors.  As you may or may not know, the Eastern Region Director position has been open since December of 2019 when Mary Ann and A.G. Caldwell stepped down as the acting directors due to the health condition of their son. Since the term of this position was due to be filled at the 2020 International Rally in May of 2020, the board was going to wait to fill that position in May of 2020 through the normal election process.   Then COVID-19 appeared on the scene and due to local health department restrictions, the 2020 Rally was canceled and with it the annual SOITC member meetings were also canceled.  This led to the unanimous decision of the board to extend all board positions by one full year and resume the rotation of officers beginning at the 2021 International Rally.  All officers graciously agreed to fill one more year of their respective offices so this could happen.

The decision to postpone election of new officers until 2021 led to the need to fill the Eastern Region Director position until 2021.  An email was sent to all the Eastern Region members asking for a volunteer to fill that position through appointment by the board as per SOITC bylaws.  Franz Peterson graciously volunteered to fill this position and was approved by the board as the Eastern Region Director through the International Rally in  May of 2021, at which time the Eastern Region members will select another director per the rotation of officers as set in the club bylaws. This is the first change I want to announce.

The second change I want to announce comes with mixed emotions.  As many of you are aware, I have been battling health issues for the past two years.  By the grace of God, it appears that I am winning the battle. However, as part of the process, I now need to see specialists and have scans every 3 months for the next 3-5 years.  This has led to Janice and I re-evaluating our full time RV lifestyle and decide to become part time extended travelers instead.  In doing so we decided that a DRV no longer met our new desire to travel in a more adventurous and hassle free style for short 8-10 week outings at a time nor did we want to worry about storage in between our trips.  So we decided to sell our beloved Mobile Suites.  As of 8/11/2020, we have sold our DRV Mobile Suites and are no longer owners,  Per the SOITC bylaws, we no longer qualify to be club members so, regrettably I must also resign my position as President.

As I mentioned above, it is with mixed emotions that I resign as SOITC President.  Janice and I look forward to our chance to still travel and enjoy life, just in a much different way.  We have formed many strong friendships and great acquaintances through the SOITC that we will always cherish and consider the most important value of being club members.  We will always cherish our time in the SOITC and hope to still see many of you from time to time in the future.  Thank you all for your vote of confidence in me as your president and I wish each of you  a healthy life full of following your dreams and enjoying every moment to its fullest.

Best Regards,

Rick Binns
