March 2020 Natchitoches, Louisiana

Join us in exploring the oldest parish in Louisiana, Natchitoches.  From March 23 to March 27, 2020, we will be transported back in time.  Walk along quaint downtown Natchitoches, visit plantations and historic locations.  Maybe even a horse drawn carriage ride down tree lined, bricked Main Street.  Just picture a drive through the countryside, trees with hanging Spanish moss and just when you think you have left civilization you come to a beautiful RV park with 50 amp, full hookup, concrete pad sites.

SOITC South Central Spring Rally 2020 Itinerary 

Day 1, March 23

10:00 am         “Welcome” meeting in banquet room.

5:30 pm           Pot luck dinner

7:00 pm          Presentation by Logan with the Cane River National Heritage

Discover all there is to see and do during your staying in Natchitoches!

Day 2, March 24

10:30 am          Depart for Carriage Ride, $15.00 per person

Guided tour through historic district and “Steel Magnolias” filming sites.  Takes approximately 40 minutes.

12:00 pm         Lunch at Maglieaux Riverfront Restaurant

Limited menu, cost between $10 and $12

*** the group will be split in half, first half will do lunch at 11:00 then carriage ride at 12, second will do carriage ride at 11:00 then lunch at 12.

Day 3, March 25

9:00 am          Depart for Magnolia Plantation. Guided tour

The plantation outbuildings comprise the agricultural and industrial portion of an extensive Creole cotton plantation.

11:00 am          Scenic drive through the Kisatchie National Forest

Bring a picnic lunch, stopping Longleaf Vista Complex for lunch with a view

7:00 pm          Game night

Come play “19”, fun game for all!  Don’t know how? No problem, very simple to learn and extremely fun! Good game for a large group.

Day 4,  March 26

8:15 am            Depart for Oakland Plantation guided tour

Oakland Plantation is the most complete Creole plantation in the South.

11:00 am          unscheduled rest of the day.

Opportunity for doing something that we learned about during the presentation that wasn’t scheduled to do.

Day 5,  March 27

10:30 am          Depart for Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site, guided tour $8.00 pp

This is a full scale replica of the fort built in the 1730’s by Louis Junchereau de St. Denis.

12:00 pm         unscheduled rest of the day.

5:00 pm          Hot Dog Social

Bring a side or dessert and your beverage of choice.  Spend time visiting before splitting ways.
